Description
OSHA Required update for Science and Chemistry departments. 
The training will include:
1. Review of the OSHA standard
2. Review of the Chemical Hygiene Plan and its location
3. Toxicity, hazards, routes of exposure, signs, symptoms, and health effects of chemicals
4. Review of action levels, PELs, or other appropriate limits for each chemical
5. Review SDS information available for each chemical (i.e. hazards, handling, storage, and disposal)
6. Methods to detect the prescences or release of hazardous chemicals (i.e. air monitoring, odors, and visual appearance)
7. Good laboratory practice
8. Control measures
9. Emergency response actions
Additionally there will be a fire extinguisher demonstration weather permitted.

Lunch will be provided.
 
About the Presenter
Stephen Vopatek:
Stephen received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota Morris, in 1970, with majors in biology and chemistry. He received his M.S. degree in chemistry from South Dakota State University in 1984. He has taught high school chemistry for about 40 years, with college teaching experience at Gustavus Adolphus College. He has done summer contractor work as a lab scientist for 3M's BioMed division. Stephen has done consulting work as a Chemical Hygiene Officer and OSHA Policy Advisor for Resource Training & Solutions, Chisago Lakes Schools, Monticello Schools, Watertown Mayer Schools, Paynesville Schools, St. Cloud Schools and MnSCU. He currently teaches AP Chemistry at the Academy of Holy Angels.

To receive the membership discount you must be a member of Resource Training & Solutions. You will need to select the City, County or Other Governmental Agency, or the School District that you are employed with that is a member.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations and Refunds: Cancellations requested with more than 5 business days prior to the start date of the class will receive a full refund of the registration fee. 50% of the registration fee will be refunded for cancellations requested within 3-5 business days. Refunds will not be issued for no shows or cancellations made within two business days of the start of the class. Resource Training & Solutions reserves the right to postpone, reschedule, or cancel the class at any time. In the unlikely event a class does not take place, a full refund will be issued or the registration fee may be transferred to another class.
